Kia has officially revealed the 2022 Stinger for the US markets boasting an updated design and more power. The automaker has ditched the old turbocharged 2.0L mill for a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder generating 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts) and 311 pound-feet (422 Newton-meters) of torque for the GT-Line. It is a big 45-hp (34 kW) bump compared to the 2021 model. The company says, with this power the sedan can hit the 60 mph mark in around 5.2 seconds.
Besides, the automaker has also increased the power output of the twin-turbocharged 3.3L V6 available for the GT models. The engine now delivers 368 hp (274 kW). While power goes to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic with paddle-shift capability, customers have a choice between rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive.
A lot has changed both outside and inside with fresh exhaust tips, new LED lighting for the rear and full-width strip, updated LED headlights with daytime running lights, and updated wheels.
Inside, we have a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen, a bigger 4.2-inch TFT center cluster (7-inch cluster optional), and a range of driver assist techs including forward-collision warning and braking assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist.
For the US, Kia is also offering a new special edition model, the Scorpion, which will come in spring featuring visual updates.
The pricing details are not official yet but we heard the entry-level model will be $3000 costlier than before. Kia should reveal the pricing details soon, as the launch of the 2022 Stinger in the U.S. is imminent.
