Toyota has disclosed its plans to introduce two electric models for America and a plug-in hybrid as 2022 models. We recognize the first EV will be a crossover, but we know nothing about the second one. There will also be a plug-in hybrid model.
While Toyota was previously not very much interested in EVs, it has finally started to take some interest in all-electric offerings.
After announcing an electric crossover for the European markets late last year, they now have pledged the same model for the U.S. markets. Besides, the company plans to introduce a solid-state-battery-powered car in a few years.
Toyota wants to electrify 40% of its lineup by 2025. In the next five years, they like to electrify 70% of its models.
Although Toyota is slow in embracing the all-electric future, it is the champion in hybrid vehicles. The Prius being its prime example, is saving fuel and reducing emissions for decades.
