Stellantis came into being on January 16, 2021, merging 10 automotive brands. That makes it the fourth-biggest automotive brand in the world with an aim to offer equal opportunity to each sub-brand to collaborate and grow. It appears the Alfa Romeo, DS, and Lancia will work together to collectively create a new generation of vehicles in the next four years.
The three of them will use powertrains and advanced tech that will not be accessible to other automakers. While talking to Automotive News, the product director of DS, Marion David said, “We are working with our Italian colleagues on specific premium modules, powertrains and features to differentiate the premium brands from the mainstream brands.”
All the new models from Alfa Romeo, DS, and Lancia will show the full potential of this collaboration.
“The cars that are already a work in progress will continue and be launched,” David made clear. “And then for the next generation, we are focused on making the synergies that are the reason for the merger.”
It means Lancia brand will grow its network and offer more vehicles using new platforms and tech. Lancia is only offering one model in Italy right now. Of note, that outsold Alfa Romeo in Europe in 2020, which means Lancia definitely has some potential.
