Toyota wasn’t the most searched car brand last year but also the best-selling marque, despite the tough economic year around the world due to coronavirus.

As per research conducted by Compare the Market, the Japanese automaker topped the Google search terms last year superseding BMW that held the title in 2019. The survey company gathered data from 158 nations across 2018, 2019, and 2020. They found the total search volume for auto marques was approximately 88 million, last year.

According to the analysis, Toyota topped in search volume in 55 nations, which denotes 34.8% of the total number of nations studied. In 2019, Toyota’s share was only 17.7%.

Alternatively, BMW witnessed a big decline, falling from 118 nations in 2019 to only 34 in 2020, showing a 64% drop.

On the other hand, the famous Mercedes-Benz kept its third spot for the most-searched car brand across 158 nations. Remarkably, Kia and Ford jumped in ranking a great deal securing the 4th and 5th place, respectively.
