Mini has improved the styling and features of the Cooper lineup for the 2022 model year. The 2022 Mini Cooper, Cooper S, JCW and Electric models come with a sleeker design and lots of new standard and optional facilities. Both the two- and four-door models will arrive at the dealerships in the US this spring wearing a slightly more expensive price tag.
Regarding the styling, it now gets a body-color insert in the grille and a revised diffuser for the S and JCW models. Furthermore, there is a range of customization choices comprising new shades and optional multi-shade roof treatment.
Take peek inside and we see a digital gauge cluster, a newly standard 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new air vents, standard satellite radio, and optional Apple CarPlay. No Android Auto available, sorry. Mini added Lane-departure warning in the standard driver-assist features for the 2022 models.
No changes in the power departments though. The entry-level Cooper features a 134-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder, the S has a 189-hp turbo 2.0-liter four, and the JCW housing 228-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four. The Mini Cooper SE comes equipped with 181-hp electric motor and an EPA-assessed 110 miles of range. A six-speed manual transmission is standard while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or an eight-speed automatic transmission comes as a choice, depending on the variant.
With an increase of $500 in the previous starting price, the Cooper Hardtop now costs $23,750, the Cooper S sells for $27,750, and the JCW sets you back $33,750. The Cooper Convertible has a starting price tag of $28,750 and the electric Mini is the most expensive at $30,750. The production of the 2022 Mini Cooper will start in March.
