We all know the world liked the Honda E for various reasons, but its performance is not one of them. Honda is trying to change that perception by turning this pint-sized EV into a drag racer, specifically for the 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon. The Honda E-Drag is a concept vehicle that primarily focuses on achieving quick quarter-mile times.
This tiny hatchback concept boasts a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic roof and body panels with a basic mounting scheme. To make the vehicle lightweight, the automaker also switched the front seats with lightweight drag-racing buckets by eliminating the back seats at the same time.
Other changes include a pair of 17-inch wheels from a first-generation Acura NSX and lowered suspension.
The company did not reveal the powertrain of the Honda E-Drag racer. However, we can tell the power figures will definitely be higher than the stock setup. For reference, the production model features a single motor powering the rear wheels, producing up to 151 hp with a 0-62 mph time of about 8.0 seconds.
