According to a Cox Automotive study, 40% of consumers thinking about purchasing a pickup truck in the next two years will choose an electric option, and a genuine half of those looking to buy an EV pickup realize the present and upcoming EV trucks are attractive choices. The most famous upcoming electric trucks include the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, and Ford F-150 EV
“Our research shows new EV pickup trucks are leading more consumers to consider an EV product,” said Vanessa Ton, senior manager at Cox Automotive, in a statement. “EV pickups are a catalyst for EV growth.”
It is worth noting that the Cox survey wasn’t big and anonymous. In reality, they teamed up with MarketVision to manage an online survey last year in November and December. They actually asked 155 people interested in buying a pickup truck. Among these, 60 were particularly in the market to buy an EV pickup truck.
Evidently, price and performance were two main factors driving the buyer’s decision. The other two deciding factors for shoppers were horsepower and new technology. “ICE buyers prioritize horsepower; shoppers interested in EVs care more about technology,” Ton stated.
