After introducing the i20 N, i30 N, i30 N Fastback, and the Veloster N, Hyundai is going to introduce another performance car, the Kona N. The 2022 Hyundai Kona N will be the first crossover to get an “N” badge and it will debut in the next few weeks.

The company has released some camouflaged teaser photos and a video that shows the feisty CUV’s capabilities both on and off the road. Of course, for a high-performance crossover, it needs AWD and the Kona N will be no different.

According to the company’s press release, the 2022 Hyundai Kona N will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine under the hood, taking assistance from a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission.

It is the same powertrain we get in the i30 N and Veloster N. And although the automaker did not reveal the performance specs, they won’t be any different from the ones delivered by these two hot hatchbacks.

Therefore, we are seeing the Kona N delivering at least 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet (352 Newton-meters) of torque. The “warm” model gets a smaller 1.6-liter turbo good for 198 hp (147 kW).

Reportedly, Hyundai is working on at least one more N vehicle. We have also heard rumors of an exclusive N vehicle, probably featuring a mid-engine layout and hybrid setup.
