Before you read this post, please check the part 1 of this story first. Adoring the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 are squinting head- and taillights with striking LED-ringed accents and full-width front and rear light bars. Thanks to the zero-emission slogan, the crossover does not need a front grille. To make the front more attractive, buyers can opt for the illuminated VW logo by paying for the $4,500 Statement package.

The side profile is curved giving it a retro feel while we can also see black plastic rocker panels and wheel arches along with white contrasting roof accents.

Interior:

Get inside and it welcomes you with a 5.3-inch digital instrument display boasting three reconfigurable tiles to display crucial info, together with the remaining battery charge and range. The infotainment screen measures 10.0 inches for the standard variant and gets 2.0 inches more size for the ID.4 Statement. Navigation and gesture controls are standard as well as the bizarre rocker switch instead of a traditional transmission selector. Wireless-charging, two USB-C outlets, two cupholders, and a large storage space under the console are also standard.

Another big plus owning the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 is its ample cargo room. Starting with 30.3 cubic feet with rear seats intact, it grows to 64.2 cubic feet when folded. This is more than any EV rival of the ID.4. Do not think VW has compromised on the passenger space to offer more cargo room. Even its 99 cubic feet passenger space is class-leading.

Safety

While designing the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4, the engineers gave safety paramount importance. It boasts a new IQ.Drive suite of driver-assist technology. The standard facilities for the crossover start from forward-collision warning with pedestrian monitoring and automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control and end with the road sign monitoring, parking sensors, and automatic high beams.

To protect occupants in the event of a collision, there are six airbags including frontal and side-impact torso airbags for the first row and a pair of curtain airbags for both rows.

Pricing And Availability

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 should arrive in the U.S. and most other markets in Q1, 2021 wearing a starting price tag of $39,995. This base rear-drive variant boasts piano black interior accents, black cloth seats, 19-inch wheels, a body-color roof, and roof rails.

Go for the $4,500 Statement package to add fixed-glass roof, gray or black leatherette, adaptive front lighting, power-folding side mirrors, and the aforementioned 12.0-inch infotainment screen and illuminated rear badges in the vehicle. Moreover, the $1,500 Gradient package available alongside the Statement comes with 20-inch wheels, a black roof, and silver exterior accents.

Those who love to take their hands on the EV-VW as early as possible would be happy with the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 1st Edition. Comprising both the Statement and Gradient packages, it starts at $43,995. There are some unique features for the 1st Edition such as Electric White interior accents, brake, and accelerator pedals with “pause” and “play” signs, black mirror caps, and a good-looking exterior emblem.

The 302 hp all-wheel-drive ID.4 will cost $43,695 with sales starting by mid-2021. Do not forget all models come with $7,500 federal tax credit, thus the base rear-wheel-drive model will sell at $32,495 and the all-wheel will cost $36,195.
