For the automaker’s best-selling crossover in the US, Hyundai has played a huge gamble by totally redesigning the Tucson. Would it pay off, only the time will tell when it hits the US and UAE roads in the mid of next year. Besides the new design, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson will be accessible in a hybrid as well as plug-in hybrid flavors. An N Line variant will come later on. Similar to Sonata and Elantra N Line models, it will be sportier than other models in the range.

As revealed earlier, the most dynamic thing on the front is the headlight integrated into the grille opening. The side profile is also revolutionary with unequal rhombus and triangle contours. At the back of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson are a set of blade-like taillights and a full-width LED bar. In other words, the design is such that nobody will mistake it other than the Tucson.

The design is so revolutionary that it is unlike any other SUV from Hyundai. The Palaside, the Santa Fe, the Kona, and the Venue, all are graceful but nothing can match the new Tucson in design.

The interior of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is not that Avant-garde but it is contemporary with a twin-cockpit look, a tiller-shaped steering wheel, and a flat dashboard. The digital instrument cluster and dual-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility all add up to its merits. Other prominent additions in the 2022 Tucson are a car-to-home communication system and an optional air quality monitoring system.

The 2022 Tucson will be powered by a 2.5L inline four-cylinder generating 190 horsepower (142 kilowatts) and 260 newton-meters of torque. The engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new Tucson Hybrid comes equipped with a turbocharged 1.6L inline-four assisted by an electrified system, details of which are unknown for now. It will reportedly create 230 hp (172 kW) and 350 Nm of torque. The automaker did not reveal its transmission details yet, however, we believe it will mate to a six-speed automatic.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid will also have the same engine as the hybrid variant with the battery and range information still a mystery.

The new Tucson will offer buyers both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options. However, the latter now is tweaked to offer better performance. The 2022 Tucson will have Mud, Sand, and Snow drive modes in addition to the present Eco, Comfort, Smart, and Sport settings.

Hyundai has also improved the safety specs of the crossover thanks to the modern driver-assist and active safety features. Expect the front collision monitoring and prevention with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and Hyundai Highway Driving Assist.

The pricing details of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson for the US and UAE markets aren’t revealed yet but we believe it will be a little higher than the prices of the current model. The base model should start at around $24,000, while the range-topping will cost approximately $33,000. The HTRAC all-wheel drive will add around $1,500 to the cost. Furthermore, the Tucson hybrid should be available between $27,000 and $35,000.
