Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has unveiled the T50 supercar boasting some key features that distinguish it from other offerings in the segment. Designed by the man behind the McLaren F1’s creation, it is the “ultimate analog supercar.” It means the emphasis is on the best driving experience not on the high speeds.
The T50 supercar carries a 3.9L naturally aspirated V12 good for 653 horsepower and 344 pound-feet of torque, which by no means comes near to today’s supercars. However, it can rev to 12,100 rpm and comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox with high gearing for the first three gears.
A 15.7-inch fan at the back, taking the idea from Murray’s Brabham BT46B Formula One car, is part of an active aero system. Another thing that makes it unique is its weight to power ratio of 3.3 pounds per horsepower. Moreover, at 2,714 pounds, the T50 is about 1,000 pounds lower than the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, and the Porsche 918.
GMA will produce only 100 examples each wearing a hefty $3.08 million price tag. The production will in January 2022.
