The Japanese automaker Toyota and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) have collaborated to create a moon exploration vehicle and it got a very familiar name. Reminding us the Toyota’s most famous SUV, Land Cruiser, it is named Lunar Cruiser.

The philosophy behind naming it Lunar Cruiser is crystal clear. Toyota wants the media attention as they start building this pressurized rover.

Toyota is currently building the Lunar Cruiser keeping in view the severe conditions on the moon. Both Toyota and JAXA are working to ensure quality, durability, and reliability.

JAXA and Toyota want to start their journey to the moon in this decade and for this, they have chosen the year 2030.

In 2020, the companies will initiate driving simulation to approve the power and heat dissipation function in addition to the tires and interior configuration.

The design and engineering work will initiate any time before 2024. The Lunar Cruiser will be presented to the public by 2029 before its manned lunar exploration.
