Bentley has launched Bentayga online configurator with an apparently infinite combination of paints and attributes. It gives customers the liberty to customize their vehicles exactly according to their taste.

The Bentayga online configurator employs more than 1.7 million images to provide a virtually endless number of choices to buyers. These images come directly from Bentley’s digital warehouse, which is connected to engineering and production systems, showing a real-life picture of a customer’s Bentayga.

Bentley’s Virtual Media Manager, Paul Chapman, says:

“My job is to unite technology and luxury in the production of digital Bentleys with the same fusion of craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability as our physical cars. I am often asked how many images are required to recreate a Bentley – which can have up to 10 billion possible configurations – in the digital space, and the new Bentayga required 280,000 images to display all the customer options.”

“If I was to print them all out on A4 paper, the stack of paper would be 28 meters high.”

To create this configurator, Bentley took help from Intel thanks to their expertise in pixels, mimicking the impressions of its meetings with virtual objects. Bentley and Intel have been collaborating since 2017 where the latter is incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into OSPRay and the former is offering its advice and information to create life-like faster pictures. Over the years, the system improved by 33% even they added 600% more content to the configurator.

Both companies are expanding their research further to enhance the product correctness and quality standards along with minimizing the duration needed to render imagery.
