The 2021 Mercedes S-Class will hit the roads by the end of this year and knowing the features it will come packed with we are very excited. Starting with the new MBUX infotainment system featuring exceptional attributes we covered before, it also boasts an innovative air suspension, rear-axle steering, rear-seat airbags, and a lot more, all created to make the S-Class the best executive sedan in the luxury cars segment.

One of the most important aspects of the 2021 Mercedes S-Class is E-Active Body Control, which is hydropneumatic air suspension also accessible in the GLE and GLS. This is the first time the automaker decided to use it for its flagship sedan. It contains a damper in every wheel with two operational chambers featuring an adaptable valve and a hydraulic pressure reservoir that raises the S-Class up, down, and to the side. Yes, surprisingly, it goes to the side.

The E-Active Body Control system also comprises of Pre-Safe Impulse Side collision control. Again, this is not a new feature for Mercedes but it is made available for the S-Class first time. Interestingly, it is capable of lifting the S-Class up to three inches before a looming crash to reduce harm to the affected side. Both the E-Active Body Control suspension and Pre-Safe Impulse Side control system do not come standard with the sedan, so you have to pay extra for them.

Another excellent feature for the flagship is E-Active Driving Control that examines the road conditions 1000 times per second and changes the suspension to make the driving comfortable. Again, this is already a part of the GLE and GLS SUVs.

Parking made easy: With the new rear-axle steering of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The rear-axle steering is another new facility for the 2021 Mercedes S-Class that employs an electric motor fitted to a spindle at the rear axle to guide a belt that alters the angle of the rear wheels according to the steering input.

Remarkably, the rear-axle steering is accessible in two settings: one with an angle of up to ten degrees and the other with up to 4.5 degrees of movement. It narrows the turning circle up to 7.0 feet.

On July 29, Mercedes-Benz threw more light on the first of its kind rear-seat airbags. They are designed to safeguard the passengers on the backsets in case of a collision. And they are different from the typical airbags in the sense that they trap air inside them. These will again not be standard across the S-Class rather are a part of the Executive Rear Seat Package.

Look for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class debut before the end of this year. The pricing details are not yet revealed, however, we know the 2020 model starts at AED 430,000 and goes as high as AED 936,217 for Maybach model.
