Right before the online debut of Ford’s most anticipated vehicle Bronco, Jeep has released a teaser image of a Jeep Wrangler sporting a large hood scoop with a 392 mark on it. This is fantastic news for Wrangler fans who have been craving for a stock V8 option for decades. The Hemi V8 swap has been a popular modification for the JL Jeep Wrangler.
The 392 V8 is already pumping life in the Charger Scat Pack, Challenger Scat Pack, and many other vehicles of Chrysler. Sitting below the Hellcat engine lineup, the solid 6.4L Hemi V8 churns out 485 horsepower and 644Nm of torque in the Charger Scat Pack, which is far higher than what the Wrangler generates. The 392 Hemi pairs with either an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. This power enables the Charger to shoot from 0 to 96 in just 4.5 seconds.
Although Jeep had given Wrangler owners a go-ahead to swap its stock engine with a Hemi V8 and we have seen many tuner firms doing this job, the only problem is the crash safety of the Hemi powered JL Wrangler. It seems the automaker has now answer to this issue.
Announcing this news right before the debut of Ford Bronco will help Jeep draw some attention away from its rival. Let’s see how this turns out.
