The Japanese automaker has finally revealed the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross in Thailand to satisfy the demands of customers looking for a more functional crossover. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture C (TGNA-C) platform, it slots between the C-HR and RAV4.
As it is built on the C-HR’s TGNA-C, it has the same wheelbase as the C-HR. It is 175.5 inches long, 71.9 inches wide, and 63.8 inches high.
For the Thai market, Toyota has introduced two powertrains. The first is a 1.8L 2ZR-FBE gasoline engine good for 140 horsepower (104 kilowatts) and 175 Newton-meters of torque. The power goes to the front wheels through a Continuous Variable Transmission.
The second is more suited for environment-conscious and better fuel economy advocates. The hybrid setup features a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE gasoline engine assisted by a 600-volt electric motor. This hybrid powertrain can create 170 horsepower and 305 Nm of torque in total. The 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid Cross mates to Toyota’s e-CVT.
The 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross comes with a noticeable design, which is more passive than the C-HR.
The Cross will only be accessible in Thailand this year and will roll out in other parts of the world next year.
