The German automaker redesigned the 2021 Mercedes GLA and presented it last year and now we have got its pricing details for the US markets. The base GLA 250 will cost buyers $37,280 (including destination), while the GLA 250 4Matic will set them back $39,280, exactly a 2,000 premium for the all-wheel-drive.
The new 2021 Mercedes GLA now looks a complete crossover thanks to changes in its structure. We witness the same story inside as it now has the latest MBUX infotainment system and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0L good for 221 horsepower (164 kilowatts) and 350 Newton-meters (258 pound-feet) of torque, which is a bump of 13 hp over the outgoing model. This power is shifted to the front wheels via an eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission. A quick run to 96 kilometers per hour would need 8.6 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 209 kph (130 mph).
Those who need extra power can opt for the 2021 AMG GLA 45 good for 382 hp and 0-96 time of 4.3 seconds. The automaker also has plans for GLA 250e plug-in hybrid for select markets.
The 2021 Mercedes GLA is a little pricier than the 2020 GLA, which sports a $35,245 price tag. Once out, it will rival the likes of 2020 Audi Q3 and 2020 BMW X1 costing $35,695 and $36,195, respectively. For reference, the 2020 GLA 250 starts at AED 175,000 here in the UAE.
The crossover will hit the US roads this summer. The UAE launch is still a mystery.
