Last August, the Dutch track car company Donkervoort introduced the D8 GTO JD70 and now the production road-legal car is ready featuring genuine go-kart ability. The company says the Donkervoort D8 GTO JD70 is “the first 2G super sports car,” meaning it is adept in topping 2G of lateral acceleration in hard cornering employing standard tires. The automaker has used the Nankang AR-1 competition-spec tires, which are road legal. The rare car will be produced in limited numbers, 70 to be exact.
An Audi-sourced 2.5L inline five-cylinder turbocharged is responsible to propel it using a close-ratio Tremec five-speed manual transmission mated to rear wheels. The engine generates 420 horsepower, and thanks to its lightweight construction, it can take the car from zero to 100 km/h in only 2.7 seconds. The unique sports car can hit 200 km/h in 7.7 seconds and soldier on to reach its maximum speed of 280 km/h.
Donkervoort has employed carbon fiber as well as a steel ladder frame to make the car lightweight. The suspension is double wishbone with adjustable dampers and springs with six-piston calipers at the front.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO JD70 starts at €163,636 ($182,295) and half of the units have already accounted for. We are not sure if it will be available in the UAE.
