Instead of unveiling the next-generation 308, Peugeot has introduced an updated model for 2021. The new 2021 Peugeot 308 comes with minor alterations including a new color ‘Vertigo Blue’ and two new alloy wheel patterns. The Black Pack package is also available for higher trim levels.
While not much is changed outside, the new 308 has replaced analog dials in the instrument cluster with a digital system. The 10-inch i-Cockpit is similar to what we have in the 208 and 2008.
The 2021 308 GTI comes with a turbocharged 1.6L gasoline engine pumping out 263 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. The engine mates to a six-speed manual transmission, which enables it to cover 100 km in six seconds only. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
Other variants either come with a turbocharged 1.2L gasoline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter diesel. Both these engines are available in two tunes of power: 110 and 130 horsepower. Choosing the 110 hp gasoline engine gives a six-speed manual option only, while buyers can have the 130 hp engine with an eight-speed auto. The 1.5L diesel comes with a standard six-speed manual. The eight-speed auto is optional.
The standard features include dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, rear parking sensors, DAB digital radio, automatic windscreen wipers, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. All the models in the 2021 Peugeot 308 are highly safe. They come equipped with adaptive cruise control, 180-degree camera, active lane departure warning, automatic high-beam switch, speed sign recognition, active blind spot, and driver attention alert.
We are eagerly waiting for the next generation 308. Hopefully, the next model will come with extensive changes. The pricing details are not revealed yet. For reference, the 2020 model starts at around AED 90,900 here.
