The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek just got better with a new Sport trim plus a more powerful mill (optional). While the Standard and Premium trim levels still come with a 2.0L four-cylinder generating 152 hp and 267 Nm (145 lb-ft) of torque, the Limited and Sport variants boast a new 2.5L four-cylinder creating 182 horsepower and 239 newton-meters (176 pound-feet) of torque. The latter also comes equipped with more advanced styling and tech features.

While the new engine provides an extra boost to 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, the transmissions make all the difference when it comes to fuel economy and standard features. The Standard and Premium come equipped with the standard six-speed manual but the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is optional. On the other hand, the Limited and Sport variants have the CVT as a standard option. All models are paired with a standard all-wheel-drive system. The new 2.5L returns 12.3 KM/L combined, while the standard 2.0L delivers 10.6 KM/L combined with the manual transmission. The CVT models return 12.8 KM/L combined.

Add the CVT in your new Subaru and you get extra facilities such as the off-road X-Mode, hill-descent control in addition to SI-Drive mode selector. The CVT also offers Subaru EyeSight tech as a standard feature, which includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning.

The Limited variant, however, is the safest of all boasting high-beam assist, rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection with lane-change assist change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Inside, the 6.5-inch display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is standard, while the bigger 8.0-inch touchscreen is optional.

The Sport trim level comes with extra goodies such as distinct cladding around the wheels, fresh 17-inch wheels in a dark grey polish, gunmetal accenting on the front grille, side mirrors, and badging, and is available in two fresh hues: Plasma Yellow Pearl and Horizon Blue Pearl.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek and Crosstrek Sport will hit the roads later this year. Subaru didn’t reveal the pricing yet.
