The rising temperatures in the UAE and the vehicles that have been stationary for a long time call for immediate attention to the tires. To make sure you stay safe on the road this Summer, act upon our tire safety tips.
- Make sure you inflate your vehicle’s tires after every 14 days. Tires tend to lose pressure even when they are stationary.
- While examining the pressure of tires, inspect the tread for tiny objects like stones, glass, etc.
- Tire safety demands you to assess uneven wear on the tires. This could be due to misalignment or suspension issues.
- Never drive the car with underinflated tires.
- You must change tires after every five years or whenever you find the tread under 1.6mm.
- Make sure you install only branded and approved tires.
- The tires must be of correct type and dimension.
- Most tires require rotation every 10,000km. However, it is wise to consult with your owner manual or your mechanic regarding this.
- While driving, stay away from stones and pits.
- The spare tire also needs the same care as other tires, so keep an eye on their condition and air pressure as well.
- Make it a habit to inspect the tread and sidewalls for bubbles, cuts, and cracks.
- Always go for wheel balancing and alignment when you install a new set of tires.
- Keep an eye on the tread wear indicator visible on the sidewall. This would inform you when you should change the tires.
