The 2021 Mini Countryman crossover gets its mid-cycle update to bump up the brands’ declining sales in the US. Do not get us wrong, the Countryman is the most successful model of Mini in America but it needed slight changes to appeal to a wider audience. This is the reason, Mini added new headlights and grille, new wheel choices, a piano-black trim choice, and the LED taillights. Inside, it gets a new digital instrument cluster with a 5.0-inch display.
Nothing changed in the power department, unfortunately. The standard Cooper Countryman comes with the same turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder good for 134 horsepower, while the Cooper S Countryman houses the previous turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder generating 189 hp. The most powerful John Cooper Works can churn out 301 hp and pairs with Mini’s All4 all-wheel-drive system, which is optional for Cooper and Cooper S.
Mini also offers the full electric Cooper SE as well as electrified Cooper SE Countryman. The latter of which combines the 1.5L engine with a 7.6-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery and an electric motor for 17 miles of range.
The 2021 Mini Countryman will hit the dealerships this summer. The pricing details will be released closer to the launch. For reference, the 2020 model starts at around AED 158,000.
