The Volvo performance EV brand has revealed the pricing details for its first all-electric fastback, the 2021 Polestar 2. The Launch Edition will cost $59,900 (without destination charge), which is around $3,000 less than the automaker previously expected. Of course, the price will be a lot less after the applicable state and federal tax credits and rebates, which can go as high as $10,000 or more in some states.

According to a report by Green Car Reports, Polestar will introduce an affordable variant next year wearing a price tag of around $45,000.

The automaker has also disclosed the price for Performance Pack ($5,000), a Nappa leather interior ($4,000), 20-inch alloy wheels ($1,200), and any exclusive paint ($1,200).

The 2021 Polestar 2 boasts two electric motors (one on each axle) that drive all the wheels. When fed by a 78-kWh battery, these motors generate 408 hp and 487 pound-feet of torque. The automaker believes the fastback can hit 96 km/h in less than five seconds.

The interior would feature an Android-based infotainment system, created by the automaker. The occupants will be able to communicate with this system through Google Assistant. In short, it will work like your Android smartphone.

The production of the 2021 Polestar 2 has already been started at Volvo’s plant in Luqiao, China, and deliveries to U.S. customers are expected in Summer.

Before this car, the company introduced Polestar 1, which was a plug-in hybrid. It has two electric motors that work in tandem with a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0L engine to pump out 619 horsepower. The next in line is Polestar 3, scheduled for 2022 launch.
