Coronavirus is wreaking havoc all over the globe and is here to stay for a while. The governments in the Gulf States have strongly advised people to stay at home all the time, but we know that’s not possible for every person. Some of us have to go out for different reasons such as buying groceries, visit a doctor or pharmacy, reach to our jobs, and travel to a different city. With public transport not operational, we need our reliable motorcars, all the more. But, during the current circumstances where we are giving full attention to our personal hygiene, our cars need cleansing, as well. The question is how can you stay safe and clean your car the right way? Today, we will provide you a few quick tips, so keep reading:-
- Buy the Essentials to Clean Your Car
Before you clean your car, make sure you put on gloves and mask for protection. Also, you should have a car vacuum and other essential equipment like a hand brush, disinfectant wipes, fabric/leather cleaner, car shampoo, a bucket, a sponge, a chamois cloth, alcohol wipes, a waste disposal bag, and microfiber cloth pieces to ensure proper cleaning.
- Get Rid of Unnecessary Stuff
Remove all the unnecessary stuff including unwanted receipts, discarded items, loose change, car mats, and miscellaneous stuff that is better off somewhere else. Once you take care of all the unnecessary things, it will be quicker and easier to clean. Throw all the garbage in the disposal bag, and keep the items you need in a separate bag.
- Start Cleaning from Top to Bottom
Start the cleaning process from the top; clean the sun visor, steering and dashboard, and then work your way down to the seats, the boot and the base. Clean the knobs and vents using a vacuum or a small hand brush and cloth. Pay special attention to hidden surfaces and corners where dust settles in overtime. Wash your mats before putting them out to dry and give close attention to the boot, which usually stocks all the junk.
- Wipe and Disinfect
Once you are done with cleaning different surfaces, it’s time to disinfect the interiors. Use disinfectant wipes on leather seats, or spray a disinfectant solution on fabric seats and leave the doors open for some time. Pay special attention to surfaces that you frequently come in contact with, including seatbelts, gearbox, steering wheel, buttons, and armrest, etc.
- Wash the Exterior
Clean your car’s exterior by giving it a good wash with car shampoo, and finish wiping with a microfiber cloth. Give the tires more time because they tend to gather the most dust. Rub the wipers with an alcohol wipe. To dry the vehicle, use chamois cloth produced with absorbent rubber or leather. Research shows that the best time to clean your car is the early morning or the evening.
- Don’t Forget to Take Precautions
Wash and sanitize your hands before getting in the car, and make sure to wear a mask while driving to avoid a fine. UAE authorities impose Dh1,000 fine to motorists who do not wear the mask. Protecting yourself and others around you by following simple precautions can go a long way in curbing the spread of COVID-19 across the Gulf States.
