Dubai Police have intensified police patrols and will use surveillance cameras and radars to catch people who violate the sterilization campaign in the Emirate. People are advised to stay at home during the two-week program, which started on April 4.

Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, in association with the Command and Control Center for Combating Coronavirus, announced that the sterilization campaign will be operational 24 hours a day. The authorities will make sure people do not leave their homes during this period. However, people who have to travel to another emirate can only take Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirate road.

“Movement restrictions weren’t to stop people’s lives,” stated Major General Kamel Butti Al Suwaidi, Director of Operations Department at Dubai Police. “Police look with the flexibility to a specific number of cases like allowing people to use Emirates Road when traveling from one emirate to another through Dubai.”

“Dubai Police can identify people’s path during the sterilization program. For example, if someone claimed that he was going to visit his mother or sick father, then it is normal he will follow a direct path to his parents’ house. Even the employee in the exception sectors his path is clear from home to work. In both scenarios police can identify if he stuck to his path or not,” Maj Gen Al Suwaidi stated.

People are advised to call 999 for any emergency and 901 for other purposes. The residents can also report infringements at E-Crime platform and ‘Police Eye Service’.

Those who want to go out to buy necessities need a permit. Even the people who go by foot or use a bicycle require a permit, which they can apply at https://dxbpermit.gov.ae/permits. The Police request commuters to use less time for shopping and buy enough supplies that they don’t have to go daily. They must keep the bills with them all the time as proof to oppose any fine. Call 800PERMIT (800737648) for more information on the permit.
