The Japanese automaker Honda has won multiple awards in the prestigious design competition, the Red Dot Awards, including ‘Best of the Best 2020’ for its Honda e. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP took ‘Smart Product’ and ‘Outstanding Design’ honor in the motorcycle category.
Apart from the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’, which is the most important honor in Red Dot Awards, Honda e also bagged the ‘Smart Product’ award. This reward is presented for innovative products in the respective categories.
The latest Honda e is an electric-powered vehicle targeted toward the modern urban driver featuring full-width touchscreens on the dash. The simple and practical design is a testament to Honda’s philosophy of human-centric design.
Honda further went on to win Red Dot 2020 award in the motorcycle category for its superbike CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP in the popular CBR series. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is designed to deliver high-performance on the racetrack, focusing on speed, performance, and aerodynamic efficiency. The limited-edition motorbike will hit US dealerships around mid-2020.
“These prestigious awards place a spotlight on Honda’s visionary and talented designers,” stated Makoto Iwaki, Executive Creative Director, Honda e. “As one of the most exceptional examples of contemporary car design in recent years, the Honda e is fully deserving of its ‘Best of the Best’ accolade.”
Honda has won several Red Dot accolades over the years, including ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’ for Honda S2000 in 2001 and for Civic in 2006. It also earned the ‘Red Dot’ honor in 2008 for the Euro Accord Tourer, and in 2009 for Honda Insight.
Founded in 1955, the Red Dot Awards honor global industry leaders in product design, communication design, and design concepts. With a diverse jury panel of more than 40 worldwide experts, the competition recognizes outstanding works across multiple categories.
