To protect the health of staff, customers and communities, Nissan has temporarily halted vehicle development at its plants in Africa, the Middle East, and India. The decisions are made keeping in view the WHO guidance and current situation of COVID-19.
Here’s a summary of the decisions made:
- Development at the Alliance plant in Chennai, India (Renault Nissan Automotive India Private, Ltd) was suspended on Monday, March 23rd until further notice. The company has employed select staff at the facility to perform mandatory tasks.
- Nissan’s Rosslyn plant in Pretoria, South Africa will also stop working from today until further notice.
- Nissan’s plant in 6th October City, Giza, Egypt, will also cease development from today for about two weeks.
- Furthermore, the staff is advised to work from home to limit the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
Nissan gives utmost attention to the safety of its employees, associates, and customers, and will continue to follow the advice of government authorities in different regions.
