After showing us a teaser image and a video of the new BMW Concept i4, the German automaker has finally previewed the production-spec i4, which will launch in 2021. Do not let the big grille fool you; it is still an all-electric 4 Series Gran Coupe. The automaker says this grille serves more like an “intelligence panel” containing different sensors, though we don’t know what kind of tech is used in it.

Most of the things you see in the BMW Concept i4 may become a part of the production i4. For instance, the overall design will look the same. On the other hand, we feel the blue outline for the artificial exhaust outlets at the back may not make to the final model. Inside, we see a big, curved display, which shows the brand’s future philosophy.

The BMW Concept i4 introduces Experience Modes, which will be a part of the next-generation models. Introducing Core, Sport, and Efficient, all these take the user’s driving experience to the next level offering a more focused view and better communication with the machine.

Talking about the powertrain, BMW has installed only one electric motor that takes juice from an 80 kWh battery. The motor can generate 530 horsepower, allowing a sprint to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds only.

The automaker says the i4 Concept will deliver around 435 range on EPA and 600 km on the WLTP cycle. Whether the production model will offer the same figure remains to be seen.

Expect the BMW i4 sometime in 2021.
