The 2020 Hyundai i30 got the mid-cycle refresh from the South Korean automaker and has been introduced in Hatchback, Fastback, and the Wagon body styles. The best things about these unveilings are the mild-hybrid tech and the updated N Line trims.
Talking about the changes, the new i30 incorporates thinner LED headlights boasting a “V” theme for the daytime running lights along with an extended grille featuring an elegant “3D pattern”. Nothing changed in the side profile expect the alloy wheel design. At the back, we find an updated bumper and taillights to correspond to the front design. The new i30 also gets three new paints including Dark Night, Sunset Red, and Silky Bronze.
Inside, it is hard to find the changes expect a new seven-inch digital driver’s display along with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Customers can also enjoy new garnish colors and seat upholstery options.
The 2020 Hyundai i30 is now safer thanks to the lane following assist, leading vehicle departure alert, rear collision-avoidance assist, and blind-spot collision-avoidance assist features.
In the powertrain department, Hyundai made some changes as well. Customers can opt for the turbocharged 118 horsepower 1.0L engine with or without a 48V mild hybrid system. There are two transmission options; a six-speed manual or a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The automaker has also swapped the previous turbocharged 1.4L gasoline engine with a new 1.5-L good for 158 hp and 253 Nm of torque. This powertrain comes with the standard mild-hybrid system.
Diesel fans can have the 2020 Hyundai i30 with a 1.6L engine pumping out 113 hp and 280 Nm of torque assisted by a manual transmission. Customers looking for an extra diesel power can also opt for the 1.6L rated at 134 hp and 280 Nm or 320 Nm, according to the transmission. Those who fancy i30 N models can have them with a 1.5L gasoline engine or 1.6L diesel.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see the 2020 Hyundai i30 facelift models at the Geneva Show. However, we do hope to see a complete N model with dual-clutch transmission soon.
The company did not reveal the prices yet.
