While we all want the automotive industry to grow and flourish, we cannot do it on the cost of human lives. Following the announcement of the Swiss government barring all kinds of public meetings of over 1,000 individuals due to the coronavirus epidemic, the organizers of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show have canceled the event.

The 2019 Geneva Show was graced by around 600,000 persons from all around the world, so it wasn’t feasible at all to initiate this huge event this year amid coronavirus threats.

It’s really disheartening to not see the new cars and concepts shining on the show floor but we might have a chance to see their debuts online. However, some automakers might think of postponing their offerings. We have to wait and see!

While we were hoping a very big crowd again at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, bear in mind that some automakers had decided not to attend the show. Citroën, Ford, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Subaru, Tesla, and Volvo weren’t already part of the show.

Unfortunately, the show won’t happen this year. We enquired about the likelihood of rearrangement and we were told, “The show cannot be postponed. It’s not possible. It’s too big. In September, October? It’s not feasible.”
