The DS Automobiles, a premium luxury automaker from France, has announced its flagship sedan, the 2020 DS 9 for the worldwide markets featuring a hybrid powertrain, lush interior, and a range of high-tech safety features.
Talking about the powertrain first, it has a gasoline engine that takes assistance from an electric motor to generate 225 horsepower. The electric motor gets power from 11.9 kWh battery and offers a range of between 40 and 50 kilometers. In pure electric mode, the luxury sedan can hit 135 km/h.
The premium brand of Groupe PSA plans to offer two more powertrains in the future. We have heard about a 250 hp variant and 360 hp performance model. All the engines mate to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The DS 9 is an ultimate tech machine. Its most advanced features an active suspension system boasting a range of sensors that foresee road conditions and alter the dampers suitably. There are five LED headlight settings; use them for city, country, highway driving, parking, and bad weather. The optional night vision system can see in the dark and displays it on the instrument cluster.
Inside it boasts a big center touchscreen, a digital display for the driver, and a 14-speaker sound system. Those who like a more personalized experience inside can opt for DS Inspirations.
The 2020 DS 9 has a level 2 semi-autonomous capability. Expect adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane-keep assist as well as a stop-and-go traffic system.
The 2020 DS 9 will hit the road sometime in the summer. The pricing details will be revealed closer to the launch. Will it be available for the Gulf countries? Only the time will tell!
