Kia’s most famous nameplate, Sorento is entering its fourth generation and the company has just revealed the official teasers of the mid-size SUV. The automaker actually got late in revealing the teasers because we have already seen the 2021 Kia Sorento fully undisguised out on the road, in the spy shots shared with us by Motor1. The official-reveal will take place at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show on March 3.

Introduced in 2002, the Sorento has been enjoying healthy sales over the years. The new generation capitalizes on all the experiences the company has acquired over the years giving us a new dedicated platform for this SUV. Evidently, it has more space for passengers and in the boot than any other vehicle in its segment. In fact, Kia says the space even matches the SUVs above its class. The platform also enables Kia to use a hybrid powertrain first time for the Sorento.

If you are close to Sorento, you may remember, Kia did introduce a diesel hybrid concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor show featuring a 1.6L engine producing 163 horsepower. The electric motor was rated at 40-hp and was assisted by a dual-clutch automatic transmission. It was good enough to produce just 119 grams of CO2 per kilometers.

Teaser

Of course, we expect better from the automaker for all the advancements we have seen in the last 11 years. The fourth-generation 2021 Kia Sorento will be safer, more connected, and offer an advanced infotainment system.

We hope to see more official teasers before the official launch. Meantime, you can check the completely undisguised Sorento here.

For price reference, you should know that the 2019 model starts at AED 86,900 in the UAE.
