More positive news is coming from Tesla after they posted its first annual profit since the firm’s inception in 2003. The Tesla Model Y has hit the production lines with expected deliveries by the end of next month.
Right now, Tesla is developing two variants of the Model Y, both featuring all-wheel drive. The Long Range version ($52,990) is cheaper than the range-topping Model Y ($60,990). Both the SUV models would offer around 507 km of range, which is 50 km higher than what Tesla declared earlier.
Do not worry; more reasonably priced Model Ys will enter production at the start of next year. The Standard Model Y will cost $41,200 and deliver 370 km of range.
Tesla is presently producing the Model Y at its plant in Fremont, California. Soon, they will start the development of this SUV at their newly-built plant in Shanghai. Once the plant in Berlin gets operational, the Model Y’s production will start there as well.
Not only the Tesla Model Y, the S, and the X will also get range upgrades, confirmed by CEO Elon Musk during a conference call. “We’re rapidly approaching a 400-mile range for Model S,” he stated.
