GMC is reviving the Hummer nameplate by giving it an electric shock. The automaker confirmed yesterday the arrival of GMC Hummer EV truck boasting 1,000 horsepower and capabilities to conquer all types of terrains.
The details about the GMC’s first EV are scarce at the moment but we do have a teaser image and some short clips showing the Hummer’s signature grille with shining elements.
Although we don’t know about the battery capacity, charging time, and price, we do know it will be very quick on its toes. It will be able to cover 0 to 96 km distance in only 3.0 seconds, thanks to the massive 11,500 pound-feet of torque.
Fans would be happy to see the GMC Hummer EV truck this Sunday during the Super Bowl ads. The official launch will happen on May 20, 2020, while the sales may start in the last quarter of next year. The automaker plans to construct this EV at Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.
“GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC Hummer EV takes this to new heights,” states Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising.”
