Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority’s (RTA) Taxi Booking and Dispatch service is migrating completely to Hala e-hailing service from January 15, RTA reported. Hala is a joint venture between RTA Dubai and Careem, which started its operation on 29th August 2019. Lots of Dubai Taxi customers have already switched to Hala but those who didn’t have to install the Careem app now and register with them to use the taxi service in the Emirate.

However, there is an exception for senior citizens and people of determination. They can book a taxi through a dedicated landline.

Using Hala is effortless. If you have previously used any e-hailing app, that would be as easy as 1, 2, 3. Once you register, just choose the type of taxi you need (they have cheap and luxury options), tell your pick-up and drop-off locations and hit ‘Yalla’. You get the booking confirmation through an SMS and find the taxi at your place in an average of 3.5 minutes.

There are a whole lot of benefits of using e-hailing over a traditional taxi booking. First is the easy accessibility and second is the calculation of fare upfront. Moreover, you know about the driver beforehand, can track the route, and pay through cash or card. You can also get Careem’s loyalty program rewards.
