The German automaker introduced the updated Opel Insignia GSi at the Brussels Motor Show with lots of internal changes. Bear in mind the company introduced the refreshed Insignia a month ago without showing us the flagship GSi.

The 2020 Opel Insignia GSi now has a new 2.0L turbo gasoline engine churning out 230 horsepower. The engine is assisted by a nine-speed automatic transmission that powers all the wheels. The vehicle uses the Twinster AWD system with torque vectoring.

In the European markets, the GSi comes equipped with a new electro-hydraulic brake booster and FlexRide mechatronic suspension setup. To optimize the aerodynamics, the company has added an active full-face shutter.

Opel says the new electro-hydraulic brake booster is “a platform for technology that will be required for automated driving in the future.”

Additionally, the Insignia GSi adaptive sports suspension enables it to adapt to different driving conditions through Standard, Tour, Sport, and Competition drive modes.

“We are proud of our new flagship,” Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller stated at the unveiling ceremony. “The Insignia looks fantastic, featuring class-leading technologies such as the IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, fuel-efficient gas and diesel engines, adaptive FlexRide suspension and outstanding wellness seats. The GSi is again the top model in the series and as engaging to drive as a real sports car.”

The new Insignia offers its customers three engine choices for regular models, which include 1.4- and 2.0-L turbo petrol good for 145 hp and 200 hp, respectively. There is also a 1.5L diesel offering 122 hp.

The 2020 Insignia will take a while to reach UAE shores, so we can’t tell about its price right now. However, the 2019 Insignia starts at AED 95,000.
