A few days back we told you that Jeep is readying the plug-in hybrid versions of the Wrangler, the Compass and the Renegade for the CES 2020, and showed you the pictures of the latter two, which were previously shown to the public at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. While all the three models give us a peek into Jeep’s electrified future, we were excited to see the Jeep Wrangler 4XE PHEV on the show floor. Well, it’s finally here and looks stunning!
As the automaker intends to add some sort of electrification on all its models by 2022, we will observe more Jeeps getting electrified treatments in the coming months. Jeep is holding back most of the info for the Jeep Wrangler 4XE PHEV and we have to wait for the upcoming auto shows to know more about it. Right now, we are eyeing on shows in Geneva, Beijing, and New York.
That said, we know some details about the Renegade PHEV and the Compass PHEV. Both of these carry a 1.3L turbocharged engine assisted by an electric motor good for at least 190 horsepower. Again, the official figures are still a mystery but we do know the planned drive range. The SUVs should be able to deliver 50 km on a single charge and attain a top speed of 130 km/h in the EV mode.
We are still not sure if the Wrangler PHEV will use the same engine as offered in the Renegade and the Compass or not. To know about it, we have to, at least, wait for the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, which will happen in early March.
