Jeep is readying Wrangler, Compass, and Renegade plug-in hybrids for the 2020 CES, which will start this Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada. Called 4x4e models, the Renegade and Compass will likely carry a turbocharged 1.3-L four-cylinder engine with an electric motor at the rear. This motor will send power to the front wheels in the Renegade, while the Compass will receive power at its rear wheels.
Reportedly, these two vehicles will generate more than 200 horsepower collectively and could run a few kilometers on the battery alone. How much will be the all-electric drive range is still unknown but expect it to come around to what Countryman Cooper SE plug-in hybrid offers (29km).
Details about the Jeep Wrangler 4x4e are limited at the moment, but we believe it the combustion engine will send power to all the wheels, and the electric motor will add to that power. To make it a perfect off-roader, the electric motor should be able to render low-end grunt.
To know more about the Wrangler, Compass, and Renegade Plug-In Hybrids, stay tuned!
