Honda is going to present a one-of-a-kind concept car at the 2020 Consumers Electronics Show (CES), named Augmented Driving Concept, catering to human curiosity. The concept car is a roadster with full self-driving capabilities. The best part is, the driver can use eight different drive modes, which actually lie between fully manual and fully autonomous.
For instance, the full-manual control means the driver will do all the driving itself, and when they like to move toward self-driving territory from the full-manual, they start receiving the dividends of the autonomous technology.
Another interested feature in the Honda Augmented Driving Concept is its unique driver control. Instead of using your foot to accelerate and stop the car, you can use the steering wheel to perform these functions. Just push the wheel to accelerate and pull it to decelerate; it is that simple. You can even start the car by tapping the steering wheel twice.
Honda will also use the 2020 CES to introduce its vehicle-to-infrastructure communications technology. Also publicized by other automotive firms, this tech enables a car to share data with the surrounding vehicles to make driving safer. For instance, a car can see the location and drive speed of other vehicles near it using this technology.
The roofless, button-less car is just to showcase the techs Honda is working on, so it won’t go into production.
For more details, stay tuned, as we bring you the highlights of the CES, which starts January 7, 2020.
