Anyone who has committed a traffic violation before December 22, will be able to get a 50% discount on traffic fines in Abu Dhabi, announced Major General Fares Khalaf Al Mazroui, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police. Apart from this 50% discount, the violator will also see his black points and vehicle confiscation charges relieved. However, there is one condition; the violator must pay his/her fine within three months of his/her defiance. Moreover, this scheme is also not applicable to traffic infringements that are considered ‘dangerous’.

“The kind gesture, directed by the UAE prudent leadership, is meant to curb traffic violations, decrease people’s financial burdens, and encourage drivers to stick to traffic rules,” stated Major General Fares.

The authorities at UAE’s capital are doing their best to give relief to traffic disrupters, and have introduced another scheme for violators, as well. Violators who would pay their traffic penalties committed after December 22, within two months of their disobedience, can enjoy a 35% discount.

“The 35 percent discount includes the traffic fine, a late payment fine, and vehicle impoundment, if any.”

“Drivers, as per the ‘Early Payment’ scheme to take effect from December 22, still can avail a 25 percent discount if they make payment after 60 days,” he added.

“This 25 percent discount shall remain applicable for one full year, yet with no discount on late payment fine or vehicle impoundment, if any,” he pointed out.

Motorists who fail to pay their fine within a year will not be able to enjoy any rebate at all.

“The fines or penalties ruled out by the traffic prosecution or court are not included in these schemes as well,” he emphasized.

“All drivers are urged to strictly observe traffic rules and violations, and avail the discount and early payment scheme.”
