How many times you have committed a traffic violation and got away with it in the UAE? Well, recently everybody who committed a mistake in Ajman escaped the traffic fines, not because they weren’t caught in the cameras or by a Police officer but due to Ajman Police’s Year of Tolerance initiative. Named Day Without Traffic Violations, the Police handed over awareness posters instead of a traffic fine ticket to violators.
The campaign was started by the police force to mark the Year of Tolerance and guide the motorists to follow road rules for their safety as well as the security of others on the road.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department of the Ajman Police, was very hopeful on the Day Without Traffic Violations. He said this initiative will persuade offenders to not commit the same offense again for which they have been relieved by the duty officer.
He also said the campaign aims at encouraging drivers to drive within the speed limit and stay vigilant on the road. This will consequently minimize road accidents.
