The prancing horse stunned the crowd by revealing its first series production PHEV, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale at Casa Ferrari during the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix 2019. The highly capable sports car is the epitome of beauty and performance thanks to the 986 horsepower, a weight-to-power ratio of 1.57 kg/cv, and 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h.
The power comes from the award-winning V8 turbo engine generating 769 hp, which is the maximum force any 8-cylinder ever produced in Ferrari’s history. The engine is assisted by three electric motors, two at the front axle and one at the rear, that collectively create 217 horsepower. The engine is mated to a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The electric motors get power through a high-performance Li-ion battery, which offers a 25-kilometer range in all-electric eDrive mode, with only the front axle working. The battery pack is placed behind the seats, right above the chassis rear cross member.
The new Ferrari SF90 Stradale becomes the first Ferrari sports car to have 4WD. It was imperative to make use of the maximum power generated by the electric motors. Thanks to the instant torque, it can hit 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and reach 200 km/h in 6.7 seconds only. That’s incredibly fast!
The interior focuses on “eyes on the road, hands on the wheel” philosophy offering a more personalized HMI (Human-Machine Interface). The steering wheel features a touchpad and several haptic buttons. The instrument cluster is fully digital, and there is a new ignition key with full keyless technology.
The new Ferrari SF90 Stradale comes in two variants; a standard version and a sportier, higher performance model named Assetto Fiorano. It boasts unique GT racing-derived Multimatic shock absorbers, and lightweight and high-performance materials such as carbon-fiber (door panels, underbody) and titanium (springs, entire exhaust line). It reduces the weight of the car by 30 kg. This high-performance version also comes with a better rear spoiler delivering 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. The Assetto Fiorano sports Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires to hit the track hard.
The pricing details aren’t revealed yet. Stay tuned for updates!
