The German automaker has introduced the updated 2020 Volkswagen Passat with almost $2,300 reduced price tag, making it stand at the 2nd position from the top to its competition. The 2020 Subaru Legacy is most affordable in the segment sporting a price sticker of $22,745. Fortunately, the price cut didn’t come with a compromise on the vehicle’s features. The sedan now looks better with more tech and better safety facilities. For reference, the 2019 Passat sells at $25,295 (AED 96,500).

Don’t get us wrong; the 2020 Volkswagen Passat still carries a lot from its predecessor such as the 2.0L engine generating 174 horsepower and the old platform. However, the torque did get an improvement thanks to the new torque converter. The new sedan creates a 206 pound-feet (279 Newton-meters), which is 22 lb-ft (30 Nm) more than the outgoing model. The power goes to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

As mentioned earlier, the new Passat couldn’t get the new MQB platform, which is a hallmark of new VW vehicles. However, it does sport a new look with a well-defined front fascia featuring LED headlights, a modified rear with identical LED taillights, and a choice of 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheel, according to the variant.

Inside, the 2020 Volkswagen Passat gets an improved dashboard and an innovative instrument panel. Customers can select “V-Tex” leatherette or full Nappa leather.

The 2020 VW Passat should hit the dealerships in the U.S. before the end of this year. The automaker did not announce the arrival date for the Middle Eastern markets yet. Stay tuned for updates!
