Porsche introduced their celebrated 992-generation 911 Carrera and Carrera S about a year ago. Since then we have been eagerly waiting for more powerful 911 Turbo editions. We did hear they are under works but now the automaker showed us three images, which clearly shows they are working on the 992-gen Porsche 911 Turbo.
The images of prototypes, posted on Instagram, are taken in Nice, France during a test drive. One of the pictures shows Joerg Bergmeister, the Porsche’s factory driver posing in front of a cabriolet which we believe is 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
Although official details are scarce at this point, rumors say the top-of-the-line variants may appear as early as Spring next year. Reportedly, the 992 Turbo S will carry a twin-turbocharged 3.8L flat-six engine pumping out 641 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. But these figures are still an assumption. That said, the Turbo models should produce more than 600 horsepower to distant themselves from the standard versions.
We are hoping a run from zero to 96 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds. This is quicker than the ongoing model, but not much. Reportedly, the 992-gen Porsche 911 Turbo will max out at 329 km/h.
Other reports tell that the 992-gen Porsche 911 Turbo will feature all-wheel drive as standard. The power will shift to the wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The car might also boast a rear-wheel steering and Porsche’s Active Suspension Management.
