To make UAE roads safer and reduce road fatalities, Ajman Police have joined hands with Air Wing Department and started air patrolling of the congested boulevards and highways. The authorities are also planning to launch drones at different locations, especially the ones that are infamous for causing most accidents and traffic jams.
UAE authorities have been working very hard to curb traffic accidents and road deaths. And they have been successful in their efforts, thanks to the initiatives like air patrolling and Shell GoldStar Contest Awards.
For instance, if we see the last five years of data on road traffic deaths, we find that the numbers dropped from 712 in 2014 to 468 in 2018. Similarly, we have seen a drop in the severe traffic collisions, which dropped by 24.1% – from 4,895 in 2014 to 3,712 in 2018. This is a phenomenal success considering the number of vehicles increased during this period.

All this happened due to the stricter laws and traffic regulations in the UAE as well as the awareness campaigns and initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Interior, the Roads and Transport Authority, and other local bodies.
