Dubai Police has initiated Give Way, Give Hope campaign to educate motorists about giving way to emergency vehicles. The Police department also shared a video on social media that explains different scenarios on the road. It is a three months movement, which started on the first day of this month.
While it is a cultural norm giving way to emergency vehicles, unfortunately, not many are aware of the best practices in this regard. Every road user has an obligation, and they must know about it.
As a motorist, while giving way to emergency vehicles, make sure you do not cross a red light. On intersections, give way to the vehicle by moving to the right or left, depending on your position on the road. On roundabouts, do not enter if you find an emergency vehicle coming. Check the video to know more.
Additionally, there are some Don’ts, which you must keep in mind at all times.
Do not:
- go after the emergency car,
- drive on the hard shoulder
- walk on the pedestrian crossing when you find an emergency car coming
- jump over the red signal
If you follow the advice, you will save yourself a fine of Dh3,000 and six black points.
