How many of you have heard about a drifting minivan? Probably not many! Hyundai has ventured into this bizarre drifting territory with an 8-seat iMax N, which is built on the iMax minivan. The one-off drift vehicle is taking part in the World Time Attack Challenge racing festival in Australia.
Hyundai calls it the ‘Drift Bus’, created by the automaker’s Australian division. The minivan is powered by a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V-6 capable of producing 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The automaker replaced the iMax’s front-wheel-drive layout with drift-focused rear-wheel-drive. The Korean automaker claims it can hit 96.6 km/h in less than 5.0 seconds.
Hyundai also added adjustable dampers, an active exhaust, 19-inch wheels, and a full aero kit in the altered minivan. They also claim 50:50 weight distribution for safe drifting maneuvers.
The World Time Attack Challenge will conclude today and Hyundai iMax N is there to thrill the fans. It will take part in the Clubsprint Class, the Flying 500, and the Drifting Cup.
