Abu Dhabi Police is cracking down noisy vehicles in the Emirate fining them Dh2,000 and 12 black points. While it looks a very harsh punishment for a vehicle which might be mechanically fit, it can pose dire consequences for people leading to hearing impairment, tinnitus, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, annoyance, and sleep disturbance.
Keeping these issues in mind, the Police have started an educational campaign for road users in the UAE, which describes the hazards of noisy vehicles. In developed countries, there is a noise limit for vehicles. For instance, in Europe, it is 74 decibels, and anything above 90 dB is called a nuisance.
Avoid any modifications which can cause noise pollution and make sure your vehicle is mechanically fit!
