The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the Tesla Model 3 the top safety pick+ rating, which is the highest score the institute presents to vehicles. The electric car achieved ‘good’ rating in all six crash tests, especially it did great in the driver-side small overlap front test. It is worth noting that the Model 3 is the first car from Tesla that achieved this rating.
The CEO Elon Musk has been vocal about their cars’ safety features, but they never achieved Top Safety Pick+. The Model S did well previously but couldn’t earn the top honor.
Tesla introduced a car insurance service in California last month at affordable rates. The rates are lower because their EV’s are one of the most advanced and safest to drive on the road.
As Teslas are not cheap and their repair costs are high as well, their owners have to pay high insurance premiums. However, this top honor from IIHS would tip the scale in Tesla’s favor.
