Hennessey Performance has decided to dial up the power of the new 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The tuned vehicle will be available in three power upgrades.
Called the Venom 850, as the name implies, the first will generate power of 850 horses and 725 pound-feet of torque. That is just a bump of 90 horsepower and 100 pound-feet of torque over the standard output of the GT500. However, it will still be significant for drivers looking to get extra oomph. Hennessey improved the supercharger pulley, belt, and long-tube headers. They also added an air intake.
The second inline is the Venom 1000, which boasts a 3.0L supercharger with a larger intercooler and a better fuel management system. The Texas-based tuner also upgraded the transmission to cater to extra power output.
The last option, the Venom 1200, is what makes things very interesting for pedal-pushers. The tuner replaced the supercharger with turbochargers that dial up the power output to 1,200 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque. This version of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is different from the other two offerings in terms of fuel type it can use. It requires E85 or 109-octane to handle the extra power. It will cost more, but that’s negligible if you are looking for a supercar-like performance.
The cosmetic changes in and outside are mild but do give strong vibes of a Hennessey-tuned vehicle. You will find “Hennessey” name on the headrest and Hennessey inscription under the hood.
We didn’t hear a single word about the pricing of these tuned vehicles. However, we do know that they will cost higher than the standard version, which starts at $73,995.
